When Hoshi came out soo good, I took the decision to keep practicing this style, but most importantly to develop my rigging ability even more since the rig I made for Hoshi was very simple; for this objective I decided to firstly study the most relevant rigging method in Blender, this being the Rigify add-on.
After taking a couple of weeks following a course and practicing the rigging process with different creatures I was ready to start a new project. I asked a friend for an original character of his and the sloth with cool sneakers called my attention, so with the sketch of the character and the knowledge of making custom rigs I felt ready.
For Mr. Pérez I really wanted to polish more my skills of thinking long-term, therefore while creating him I decided pay special attention to the mesh so in a future the character could move easier, therefore Mr. Pérez has a great topology for animating, good distribution of polygons, having more where needed and less when not required.
Apart from this, I decided to practice even more but now my rigging skills, after some study I was able to use the Rigify add-on to create a completely custom rig; this was needed because of his dimensions (long neck, short legs), but specially because of his hands, his long nails are supposed to be solid not something bendable as a finger so I couldn't use a normal hand bones/rig for this reason a custom rig for this part was necessary.
With all the mentioned before Mr. Pérez is completely ready to do any kind of animation required.
To start off, the first deliverable is the turn around of the character, to see all his dimensions, textures and lastly the topology.
In these images we can see Pérez showing off his brand-new sneakers, along with him is a clay render to also show the good topology the character has.
Lastly, here we have an animation to showcase both, Pérez rig in action but also his sneakers, he almost fell down, but luckily, he managed to land well.
